Indiana WISEWOMAN: A UHS Program
United Health Services received a grant from the Centers for Disease Control, in partnership with the Indiana State Department of Health, to offer free screening services to low-income, uninsured women through the WISEWOMAN program. WISEWOMAN stands for Well-Integrated Screening and Evaluation for Women Across the Nation. The screening will determine their risk for cardiovascular disease by testing blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes.
This is an excellent opportunity for women in north central Indiana to improve their health and quality of life through medical evaluations, weight loss programs and fitness memberships at no cost. Each woman enrolled in WISEWOMAN receives one-on-one counseling with our health professional that assesses their nutrition, family history, and activity level. Then steps are taken to reduce their risk for heart disease and diabetes.
The Diabetes Resource Center at UHS is pleased to be able to provide this valuable program that seeks to improve the health of women in northern Indiana.
